Road Driver Payroll Specialist I

Currently, we are looking for a Road Driver Payroll Specialist I to join the ABF Freight team. The Road Driver Payroll Specialist I is responsible for compensation of contractual over the road drivers in accordance with the National Master Freight Agreement and applicable Supplemental Agreement. The responsibilities of a payroll specialist are an on-going challenge due to the time-sensitive nature of two weekly payrolls. This position requires flexibility when working around demanding payroll holiday schedules.
Your contribution may include:
* Process all new hire and termination documents of road driver employees into the Payroll Master System.
* Enter mileage rates and hourly claim rates for road driver employees into the Payroll Master System in accordance with the National Master Freight Agreement and applicable supplemental agreements.
* Update road driver employee’s tax entities as well as W-4 allowances in accordance with federal, state, local and city tax codes.
* Update employee addresses as well as affected tax entity.
* Maintain the database for ABF Road Driver employees.
* Interpret various labor contracts regarding decisions for payment of ABF’s Road Driver Employees and communicate with Employee Relations Directors and Managers when guidance is needed.
* Audit and review annual rate increases in accordance with NMFA and applicable supplemental agreements.
* Audit and process road driver pay logs in the Road Driver Payment System to ensure compliance with National Master Freight Agreement and applicable supplemental agreement.
* Verify compensation and payments of contractual Road Driver employees.
* Communicate with Line haul Managers/Supervisors, Service Center Managers, Operations Managers/Supervisors, and clerical staff regarding pay issues that arise for Road Driver employees.
* Approve Paid Time Off in Road Payroll System as well as Road Holiday System in accordance with National Master Freight Agreement and applicable Supplemental Agreement.
* Confirm road driver logs are accounted for and processed by each payroll deadline.
* Review list for unclaimed property checks and contact terminal locations to determine if checks need to be re-issued.
* Calculate gross to net checks for issuance of station drafts and advances in order to avoid penalty pay through the grievance process in the event an employee is shorted on his paycheck.
* Process all grievance pay and discrepancies for Road Driver employees.
* Other duties and projects, as assigned.
As a Road Driver Payroll Specialist I, you will be a member of the ABF Freight Payroll team in Fort Smith, AR. Your hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with irregular hours that may occur depending on workload.
